Credit Where it Is Due

As rude as this sounds, I am not a fan of John Piper for various reasons.

However, it is only appropriate to acknowledge when someone gets it right. I stumbled across this while searching for something completely unrelated:

In this article, he says, “interracial marriage is not only permitted by God but is a positive good in our day.” He concludes that opposition to interracial marriage is a root of racial distance, disrespect, and hostility. In the article, he quotes a missionary to Pakistan as saying he would rather his daughter marry a Christian Pakistani than a godless white American. This is spot on. Our identity with a fellow Christian is deeper than our own racial, social, ethnic identity.

This is similar, I believe to what Paul faced when writing the letter to the Galatians. It would have been far easier for the church to split into Jewish Christianity and Gentile Christianity. But that split would prove them all to be liars. As Paul wrote in another letter, there is one body and one Lord and one Spirit. We are one. Celebrate it!
