No poor among you
Never noticed this verse before. I had always thought that “the poor you will always have with you.” But Deut 15:4 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy%2015:4%20;&version=31;) seems to imply that God’s plan in the OT would have included a society with no poor people. That didn’t seem to work out – it seems we always find a way to mess things up. I don’t really have a point here, just thought this verse was interesting.

Indeed, you’re right about never truly being ready. That’s really why we’re talking as seriously about kids as we are right now – because we’re realizing that it’s selfish to try to have all your plans complete before deciding you have room for a little person. A child isn’t something to “fit in”.
On the other hand, the reality is that we don’t even have a month’s emergency savings and can’t afford a used car for me to drive. In that case, can we really take care of a little one? You’re not intruding – the blog world is a strange thing, and it’s a place for honest discussion. I appreciate your input and perspective.
